55 West will bring Heat to downtown Orlando

55westHeat is not only the weather we currently crave, but a restaurant and lounge coming to 55 West in downtown Orlando. It’s the first retail agreement for the 32-story high rise, and the tentative opening date is spring of this year.

Nik Patel, principal of 304 Entertainment LLC,  says the restaurant will be open daily for both lunch and dinner and in the evenings serve as a lounge with live music. The crowd targeted for the new nightlife option is 25-55 years-old according to Jessi Blakley of Consensus Communications, who’s doing PR for the project . She also said it will be a “blend of Blue Martini and Vines.” Both well known in the Orlando area.

“This restaurant and lounge will be truly distinctive within this market; not only from a culinary standpoint, but the interior build-out will more closely resemble something you would expect to see in Las Vegas, as opposed to Orlando,” says Aaron Gray of Grubb & Ellis Commercial Florida, who manages the leasing of 55 West’s 75,000 square feet of retail shops and restaurant space.

Supposedly folks will be able to eat food made in a clay oven too, which hints at Indian cuisine available in downtown Orlando. Actually Blakley says it will be a Tandoori-fusion bistro, with everything cooked on kabobs, meaning the meat will cook from the inside out. There will be some Indian-traditional dishes, but also fish, dry meats and filets, not all curries.
